We have dahlias blooming in the trellis garden! Our friend Dave Dolezal made these horseshoes with crosses for me to put on the end of each row. He also made some with deer. They’ll go inside the garden where they’re better protected. 🌺🌸🦌🧲

I didn’t plant watermelon even though I thought about it, but somehow I have a watermelon vine growing in the strawberries! The one in my hand broke off, but I have the other two and a few more tiny ones. I love watermelon so I hope it’s a good one!
Cucumber plant is still producing. It’s climbing over the arch and they hang. It’s pretty.
Got lots of tomatoes, just waiting on them to turn red.
I picked this one (Cherokee Purple?) when it started turning blush. Just watching the others and battling the worms.😡

This is my day.
Dill pickles from my garden cucumbers.
Penne Rustica - it was too salty or would have been delicious. I started using Malden Salt and need to use less.
Cucumber plants, sunflower, 2 different Dahlas, Cone Flower, Echinacea, Flox, Supertunia Bubblegum in the pedestal pots, Holly Hocks.

Do you use your mill or put it in your blender? Do the skins cause you to have indigestion?

Made 18 jars of Tomato Soup from 1 box of tomatoes I bought at the farmers market. Going to be good with a grilled cheese! 🍅🍅🍅
No recipe, but this is what I do:
I sauté minced onions, garlic, flat Italian parsley fresh basil and add red wine. I add it to the tomatoes and puree it in the VitaMix. I go easy on the saute’d items because I don’t want it to taste like marinara. I add brown sugar, and a splash of Worcestershire and simmer it down for a minimum of 5.5 hours.

When I cook it, I add milk or heavy cream.

Yard update!
Today I picked cucumbers, peppers and tons of basil. I’ve got quite a few tomatoes green on the vine.
