We recently received some really cute toys,, but they, unfortunately, had safety eyes . We know determined two year olds could dislodge those eyes and noses andthat could be dangerous. I found a way to efficiently remove them. Now it's time to embroider new eyes and noses on them. Everything on our toys must be crocheted of yarn, attached (no loose accessories),and embroidered. Thanks for these beautiful toys.

Anyone can help with this project. Crocheted toys may be any size, using any pattern. Toys are used in cruisers and also motorcycle patrol officers are asking for them as well. The toys should be made totally of yarn, i.e. no safety eyes or buttons. We know determined 2-year-olds can get those kinds of things right off. Every Saturday, we get together at the library on Hawkins, Jose Cisneros Library between 10-12. Join us while we chat, crochet and enjoy what we do. Feel free to bring toys by. We will get them to our police liaison. For mail information, message us.

Comfort toys are not the only projects we do, but it has become an important one because the need is great. At our meetings, we learn new techniques and stitches, find out what's going on in the crochet world and do our Show and Tell to see what we are each doing in addition to FUN. CAPTAIN CROCHET

At our Fifth Annual Crochet Fair that was held on Saturday, March 7th, we presented Captain Crochet as a representative of the 1000th toy our Guild has presented to the El Paso Police Department as part of our Police Comfort Toy Project.

We are looking for crocheters to join us in our efforts. If 200 crocheters would commit to crocheting one toy a month, we could meet the need of the children in El Paso who face traumatic situations that involve the Police. We are entering our third year with this project.

We need help meeting the demand and needs. Unfortunately, the need continues.
