Vintage Junkyard Jewelry by Samuel Sloma

Alongside his father and grandfather, Midwestern picker Samuel Sloma has spent decades digging through the garages, barns and basements of the dead. Born a new player to an old pastime, Sloma was raised along rows of old warehouses and closing five-and-dime stores, amongst classic symbols of untold stories. Nostalgia for a well made—albeit destructive—American past has forever been stapled to his

dreams. These relics, each thoughtfully haggled and scored, emerged as symbols of industrial beauty begging to be shared with the people in his life. In 2009, founded on the spirit of storytelling and rugged individualism that made the West wild, the Rust Belt Americana brand was born. Over 400 crude, handcrafted pieces of Rust Belt Americana jewelry have since been sold to vintage enthusiasts around the world. With each exchange, the imagination of a buyer is bound to Rust Belt Americana’s creative crossroads: a space where the murky past is ever-present, but a malleable future remains in sight.

The armory in Humboldt Park was renovated and the original auditorium seats were destroyed. Luckily, the brass tags could be salvaged.

BROOKLYN: March 26th.
NEEDED: 40 PEOPLE TO TAKE TO THE STREETS AND HAVE A CATCH AROUND AN ENTIRE BROOKLYN CITY BLOCK.
From the artist, :
It is an exquisite thing to have a catch. Without the exchange of even a single word, a good catch becomes a temporal poem of hope and heritage.
It is intimate, it is tremendous, and it is divinely pointless. To have a catch is joyful.

Folks, it almost Opening Day. So let’s celebrate the joy that every baseball season brings. Let’s take that joy to the streets. Let’s have a catch.

On Tuesday , March 26th at high noon, we’re going to have a catch around an entire Brooklyn block. Then we’re going to share a couple of 8’ long party subs from Paisanos Deli, maybe a couple beers.
To make this happen, we need about 40 people. So, here’s the ask: You got a glove? Can you be at The Invisible Dog Art Center on Bergen Street in Brooklyn on Monday, March 25th at around 11:30 am? Are you cool with us documenting this whole weird thing on film? And most importantly, you wanna have a catch ‘round the block and then eat some party subs?

If the answer is really and truly YES, then let us know ASAP. Let’s have a catch. EVERYONE welcome.
