Making history on the reach at Henley is a feat that very few crews ever get to experience. Securing back-to-back wins in the Ladies’ Challenge Plate for takes an extraordinary level of grit, seamless synchronization, and an unshakeable belief in the boat when the pressure hits its absolute peak.

Listening back to the chaos and calls of the final 500 meters is a brilliant reminder of what it takes to survive the legendary Henley stretch and come out on top. Massive achievement for the squad.

The grind doesn't lie. When you look back at the medals and the races, none of it matters as much as the quiet satisfaction of knowing you truly earned every single meter.

Mahé Drysdale didn't just dominate the single for a decade; he redefined what it meant to endure. From overcoming a career-threatening diagnosis to staying atop the podium, he embodies the reality that in this sport, the pain is the price of admission for greatness.

Crossing the finish line at Henley and finally letting go of the tension is a feeling unlike anything else in sports. Watching the crew from seal the deal captures that exact spectrum of raw emotion—ranging from pure, unadulterated hype to that quiet, exhausted relief once the stakes are cleared.

Every victory dance looks a little different, but the sacrifice it takes to get down that course first is universal. Witnessing world-class champions execute under this kind of historic pressure is a reminder of what dedicated training is truly all about.

It’s wild to think that the single biggest innovation in modern rowing was actually a bit of a nightmare to row with at first. When Concept2 dropped the asymmetrical "Big Blade" in 1991, it instantly made boats 1-2% faster but it took a massive adjustment period.

That "soft catch, heavy finish" feel was the complete opposite of what every coach preached, and it took years of iteration to find the balance between that raw, record-breaking speed and a feel that actually suited the stroke. It’s a perfect reminder that sometimes the breakthroughs we need don't feel right immediately.

Eighty years of waiting. Then, half the distance.

When women finally stepped onto the Olympic rowing stage in 1976, they weren't given the same race as the men ,they were restricted to 1000m. It took another twelve years of fighting for parity before the 2000m race became the standard for everyone in 1988.

History is a reminder that the fight for the lane is just as important as the race itself. Respect the pioneers who pulled through the barriers to get us to the start line today.

Stop trying to run a high-intensity session on a low-intensity tank. It’s a common mistake to treat every workout the same way, but there’s a massive difference between a recovery paddle and a race-pace piece.
Once you hit that metabolic threshold, your body stops relying on fat stores and starts demanding carbs. If you haven't fueled for that crossover, you're not just going to slow down—you're going to bonk, hard. Feed the engine the right fuel for the specific job you’re asking it to do, a critical point emphasized by the team at .

Taper anxiety is real. You cut the volume, maintain the intensity, and suddenly your body feels heavy or just "off." It’s a common trap: you see fewer meters in the logbook and your brain convinces you that your fitness is slipping away.

But trust the process. That feeling isn't lost fitness ,it’s your body finally recovering, rebuilding glycogen stores, and sharpening your neuromuscular speed. You aren't getting slower; you're peaking.

Don't panic and sneak in extra miles. Stay the course, keep the intensity, and trust that the work is already in the bank.
