Rekindled Pleasures

Rekindled Pleasures I repurpose vintage finds usually textiles that appear to be at the end of their life.

Rekindled Pleasures revives old unwanted items and gives them purpose again. Since I find my materials at second hand stores, you can be promised uniqueness in my creations. I love rekindling new life into old items! โ€ โœฟ โ I love old linens and lace, mercury glass, all things vintage and shabby chic!

Sharing my patriotic mantle, which has several fun vintage finds.

I created the 1776 banner from an old red and white quilt and then I hand cut out the numbers and attached them to some vintage biased tape.

I grabbed the enamel coffee pot from my friend Morning Glory Vintage and placed geraniums inside. The rope wrapped rainbow came from ๐’๐ฎ๐ง๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ž & ๐‘๐š๐žโ€™๐ง โ˜€๏ธ.
I love supporting other makers and vintage lovers.

Cotton seeds in the batting is about as natural as they come. The quilt maker also used all types of material at her disposal, another utilitarian quilt characteristic. The last pic looks to be wool.

Have you had your weekly bath? ๐Ÿ˜‰ Well this farm quilt did after it traveled to me from North Carolina.

When I saw it, I knew the soft gauze cotton backing and the brightly scrap feed sacks strung together would make some happy tote bags.

This is what I would call a utilitarian quilt functional, durable textile made primarily for daily use, warmth, or protection rather than decoration, often created from scraps.

The last picture shows the rough hand stitching. Not your usual nine stitches per inch in a nice straight rows.

This newly acquired quilt has got me reading everything I can find about quilts from the 1800s. Not my usual century for my vintage textiles. ๐Ÿ™‚
There are a few characteristics that I feel are indicative of the 1860s to 1870s.

But I canโ€™t say with certainty. Would anyone like to share their knowledge of that time period.

I posted a picture of the book that was very helpful.

The days of finding these 1960s to 70s Perma press cotton bed sheets are becoming rare. ๐Ÿฅบ I have had this Spring Maid daisy pattern in the yellow hues before.

I am in awe of the quality of material.
