I know some of you may think the prices of some scarves is excessive.
Let me explain:

Those with ribbons - hand-tied foot by foot or yard by yard to an entire skein prior to knitting. That is roughly 75 yards of yarn, unwound, with ribbons secured every so many feet or yards, and then re-wound to a ball to knit from. Ribbons may be ribbons, denim/fabric/leather striprns, or other yarns, cut to size, then hand-tied to the base yarn.

Those with a denim, fabric, or leather "yarn" - again, hand cut into quarter inch strips, then hand-tied for a total of at least 75 yards, then wound to a ball to knit from.

Ideas come from images I see, either from a picture or from nature. Some come from listening to music, and a picture of the lyrics forms in my mind.

The "yarns" for each scarf are carefully selected with extensive attention to coloring, texturing, and weight. No scarf EVER contains less than five "yarns", and often times up to ten "yarns".

Once knitting begins, I may get up to twelve inches of length completed, then pull it apart to reconfigure the "yarn" combination. This may occur numerous times for each scarf. It MUST be right! Scarves are generally six to seven stitches wide, and six to six one-half feet long, before the fringe is added.

Once the knitting is completed, I choose which "yarns" (normally five or six) will complete the fringe on the scarf. The chosen "yarns" must be cut to length, generally ten of each. Often, I may choose to have two strands of one "yarn". The strands are then bundled and hand tied to the both ends of the scarf. NOTE: I make the fringe longer than many desire. However, this allows a buyer to trim to their desired length.

Now for the finishing touches:
A name is decided upon, although this often comes before the scarf is begun.
A picture of their namesake is found.
Any ribbons used are carefully exposed, and/or cut to length for desired look.
A label is hand-sewn to the end of the scarf.
A name/price tag created and pinned to the label.
A picture is taken of the staged scarf.
The ad is created and posted.
The scarf is carefully folded and bagged.

While the knitting portion comes easy, it is the love and thought, the prepping prior to, and the finishing touches after knitting that is time consuming.
So, next time you think the price seems excessive, remember, it is NOT a mass machine-produced scarf, but a unique, one-of-a-kind creation!
To those who have purchased scarves in the past, Thank You!
I truly hope you enjoy wearing them as much as I do in creating them!💞
