We tell Maddie's story to offer hope, encouragement, and peace in a world that is constantly trying to define "normal". Vibrant. Determined. A ray of shining light. That's our Maddie Mae. God formed Madelyn this way and instilled these specific traits in her long before we knew her. At seven months old, Madelyn
was diagnosed with hypotonia- she was not meeting the "normal range" in her developmental milestones. Our journey to find answers and the proper care team for her began. With the most recent diagnoses of Hereditary Sensory and Autonomic Neuropathy type 7 (HSAN7), a rare condition, we realize the long road ahead, still we are encouraged by receiving answers. This road has not been easy for Maddie, yet with every step, her light consistently shines. As she continues to grow by leaps and bounds, she teaches us about patience and purpose along the way. On this journey, we are reminded that "normal" looks different for everyone. Madelyn came with her own set of norms, still her light shines bright. With each passing day and newly mastered skill we celebrate the Milestones for Maddie. The purpose of this non-profit foundation rests on the hopes of contributing to other families who find themselves navigating this journey and/or a similar path. Contributing not only with a donated percentage of the proceeds from purchases made from The Blue Goose, but through offering encouragement and comfort in understanding that each of us has an individual path. On this journey each of us holds the ability to define our own "normal". We feel realizing this knowledge and having courage to accept it, no matter how hard or long the road may be, is the very purpose to Let your light shine!
