Of all the wall art picked this season in southwest Florida, this original primitive folk art rendering of a rural farm is my favorite. And the fact that it was painted on an old wooden chopping board adds to its irresistible charm. Coming soon to booth 501 in the Ohio Valley Antique Mall.

Two of yesterday’s thrift picks, likely from the same household. From the mid 1940’s, a Roseville pink and green waterlily vase and a “3 in 1” metal flower holder in its original box. I think I know why these flower holders have been replaced by oasis foam: those metal pins are SHARP!

Since 2007 when I started business as an antiques and vintiques dealer, my price tags were always handwritten. Every. Single. One. And I took great pride doing that because since kindergarten I’d always received A+ in penmanship. All my school notebooks, every postcard, personal letter, grocery list, calendar or diary or journal entry handwritten. Until one day about 18 months ago, I found it more difficult and painful to hold a pen. And unlike most physical things, “tincture of time” didn’t make it better. In fact, it got worse and was accompanied by a tremor. Not a resting tremor, but one that annoyingly manifests when attempting some fine motor skill like handwriting. Or buttoning a blouse. Or changing earrings. Or spooning soup. I mean I have always secretly wanted to be a “mover and shaker”, but clearly, something got lost in translation.
Not going to lie; it’s been a struggle. Recently though, I’ve discovered some devices that help. My daughter-in-law, Lauren, bought me a tape labeling machine that I’ve gained entry level proficiency using. And a second gizmo called a NIIMBOT which makes larger labels. It’s a long way to explain why you’ll see a gradual shift to these labels in the coming months at Bucktrouts. Booth 501 and case 210 at the Ohio Valley Antique Mall.
