Monkeybox Vintage Junk I sell vintage goodness of all sorts, ephemera and vintage holiday items. I make vintage inspired holiday crafts using vintage items. What is a monkeybox?

My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it,

pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

I meant to rescue the giant wooden dough bowl at the bins. But I didn’t really mean to buy all the bottle caps. I was going to look through them and pick out a handful. Whoops. So, I think I’ll try to make a beer cap chain.

I’ve been filling up my Etsy shop with my handmade creations. The store will open tomorrow night at 6:00 pm Central. Each piece is created my me and made with a lot of love and whimsy. I hit the MOTHERLODE of amazing vintage tins today. I bought 111 tins including these 64 spice tins as well as 47 other tins including coffee, baking products, Mazola oil cans, etc. My crafting juju has been off and I haven’t made anything in quite awhile. But, I think I’m baaaaaack!

Anyone else making 1970’s beaded keychains tonight? *crickets*. No? Just me? I found a big bag full of these vintage kits a long time ago. I’m having trouble getting back into my crafts, so I decided to give these a go. They’re pretty fun and quick to make and I may have even made my 30 year old son make one. 🤪 (I just like this song…😆)

I worked the front gate all weekend at The Junk Ranch and had fun seeing all the people coming in and off the field. I only popped into one booth, but surprise, surprise- I found a treasure or three. Teeny baskets for my ever growing handmade teeny basket collection. And the best part is, I found a $20 last weekend, so they were free to me! Eeek.

I haven’t added to my collection of vintage souvenir ashtrays in a very long time. But, today I found one! This is a fun collection that stacks up and stores away in one drawer of my apothecary cabinet. Neat and tidy! These show up in magazines from time to time as something you should collect.
