🎉 Big news from the AV8 Disc Golf family! 🎉
Our very own Brian Schweberger has just hit another incredible milestone — he’s officially been inducted into the North Carolina Disc Golf Hall of Fame, Class of 2025! 🏆
Schwebby becomes just the sixth member ever to receive this honor, and we couldn’t be prouder to have such a legend representing AV8DG.
👏 Congratulations, Schwebby! Your dedication and impact on the sport continue to inspire. We’re honored to have you on the team!
The sixth member of the North Carolina Hall of Fame and member of the 2025 class is Brian Schweberger .
Nicknamed “Schwebby”, Brian is a resident of Tarboro and is currently the all-time win leader in PDGA history with 439 (and by the time you read this likely is already more). Among these 439 wins are two majors (Tim Selinske US Masters, MP40, 2013 and Tim Selinske US Masters, MP50, 2025) 45 A tiers mixed between MPO, MP40 and MP50 and 144 wins in the state of North Carolina making him one of if not the best North Carolina disc golfer of all time.
Originally born in Syracuse, NY, Brian relocated to North Carolina to play Tennis at Campbell University. He was introduced to disc golf in 1997 by Jerry Baker, a colleague from work. Brian played the 1998 Amateur World Championships, finishing 6th, and turned pro shortly after. Brian’s first of the 439 came at the Zebulon Cha-Ching and Zing just 2 years after being introduced to the game. With multiple wins under his belt and a top 10 USDGC finish, Brian hit the road full time in 2002 playing in 32 events and highlighted by a 5th place finish at the World Championships and his first A tier win – the Greater Peoria Open in a field that included future world champions such as Cam Todd, David Feldberg and Barry Schultz.
In 2004, Brian’s season included multiple top 10’s in National Tour Events (now called Elite Series) was highlighted by a 3rd place finish at the World Championships and a 4th place finish at the USDGC. His success in his final year on the PDGA Tour, 2006, was cemented with a runner up finish in the USDGC. Despite all the talent from North Carolina, Brian is still one of only two people (Jeremy Koling) to finish first or second at a major in the MPO division and his third place finish at the 2004 World championship still is the highest finish for any North Carolinian at the World Championship in the MPO division.
After leaving the tour, Brian married his wife Ashley and settled in at Tarboro. As of publication, Brian has won $309,235 in winnings; that total continues to grow as he has showed no signs of stopping playing the game he loves.
Other notable achievements for Brian include being the second ever player to shoot a 1100 rated round (a 39 at Buckhorn All Star at the 2008 Midtown), being named the 2002 PDGA Bob West Sportsmen of the Year and being named the 2024 PDGA Senior Player of the Year. Brian has also designed numerous courses in North Carolina include Sunset Gold in Rocky Mount, which has hosted A Tier events.
Brian epitomizes what a hall of famer is; incredible talent and a love for the game that is only eclipsed by one thing; sportsmanship. The only Brian will ever say no is when you say, “hey Brian, do you want to lose today?”
