~ Broom Corn Update~

Close to harvesting these beauties. About 12 - 13 feet tall now, partially tabled and producing seeds ( view til the end). What a delight it's been to grow broom corn for the first time. Can't wait to harvest it all, dry it, and see what all we have to work with for broom making. My heart is full for this project.

The sun has been hot these last few weeks and it's been doing its best to push on through to the finish line. All 60ish plants made it up into the sky and are producing not only the broom corn that will be used for broom making, but the seeds to collect, save for next year, and make available for others.

~ Mama M's Catch All Basket ~

I just love this basket. Enjoyed the weaving of the natural half oval reed. I was told by a lady friend that I was a "tight weaver". Not sure if that's a good or bad thing, but my basket nested inside of hers. Same materials can lead to completely different results.

This lil cutie was a little tricky when it got to the black dyed reed. They were thick, unruly, and didn't want to cooperate...kinda like my hair.😅

All in all, I'm happy about this little basket and hope it's enjoyed in it's new home. I find a lot of joy weaving baskets of all kinds. Looking forward to foraging materials someday and seeing what kind of designs I can come up with on my own. To see the baskets I have made so far, look at my "weavings" highlight reel up by my bio.

~ July Redo ~

Its already mid July! Where does the time go?? So many new things on the shelves at the booth this month. Feeling grateful sourcing has been fruitful.

I brought some more things in today as someone was buying things off the shelf. That works!

~ Broom Corn ~

Update on my broom corn. Wow!! It has grown so so much in the last month! It is now over my head and could get as high as 12 feet tall! The rains we had last Saturday really gave them a good push. Looking forward to this fun advanture~
Someday I will make at least one broom from this amazing plant~ 🌱

~ Farmer's Market Basket ~

My twelfth split reed rattan basket. Loving being referred to as a weaver even though I have a long way to go in my minds eye of creating what I really want to do.
Getting a little addicted to making these beauties though. I enjoy the process and the final creation is so satisfying.
