UNPALATABLE WOMXN
Someone looked at my gown last night and said sexy, I shared it's the opposite actually, and reminded me of this tee shirt concept from the collection I haven't produced yet. This is on rust stained silk.

I am not palatable for consumption.

I cannot be neatly devoured by anyone.

I am not small. I am not quiet. I refuse to shrink myself to make others comfortable.

I refuse to perform femininity in exchange for acceptance. I reject the expectation that my value is measured by how desirable, agreeable, or digestible I am.

My body, my emotions, my voice, my ambition, and my anger are not inconveniences to soften. They are evidence of a full human existence.

I am not here to be consumed.

I am here to exist and be loved wholly. 💋💋

Male Discomfort from the Underbelly of Femininity collection, on display ArtsWorcester The One show

This look explores femininity in its rawest and most honest form. By pressing my body directly against silk, I create an imprint of my anatomy that presents nudity without sexualization.

The deconstructed seams create space for the femxle emotional experience. I find that this is where true male discomfort often begins. When womxn step away from the expectation of being consistently desirable and instead inhabit emotional, psychological, and physical truth, they are often discarded rather than truly seen or witnessed with warmth, presence, and compassion.

This garment challenges that dynamic, inviting viewers to confront the discomfort that arises when femininity refuses to exist solely for consumption. It insists that women deserve to exist with all of their messy emotions, complexities, and humanity while still being understood, accepted, and deeply loved. 💋💋

Some shots from my trip to the Fitchburg Historical Society archive as I research for my next collection.

This corset was made in Paris in the 1800s. I have seen a lot of corset styles from that era, but I had never seen removable underarm pads before and immediately loved that concept. I’ve designed tops before with open or missing underarm areas, and I love the idea of designing around wear, care, and longevity. These pads could be removed and washed separately, helping preserve the garment itself.

I also got to look through a fabric merchant’s notebook and fabric samples from Fitchburg’s mill days. Seeing these small pieces of material history and imagining the lives attached to them feels really special.

Thank you for continuing the MAKE MASSACHUSETTS SLUTTY campaign and displaying my OPEN Your Heart flag in It’s a Sign show. I had so much fun at the opening I barely took any photos, so thank you for getting some great shots of me in front of your work and of you in front of mine.

I also picked up the Don’t Tell Dad piece by .room.dweller while I was there. I walked through the show, saw it, stopped, and immediately bought it. I know what I want as soon as I see it.

I usually get dressed even though I’m working alone all day and today I stumbled upon my new favorite genre: business slut.
