My first grandson definitely needed more than one quilt, so he got two little lovies, a crib size quilt, and lap size quilt. Here is this cute little festive quilt all finished. The adorable quilt top was sewn by a customer. I quilted it with a cute all over holiday lights pattern and the she finished it off with red binding. Didn’t she do a great job? She let me know that she gifted it to herself and I don’t blame her. I wouldn’t be able to give it away either.

Just in time for spring, another fantastic mixed technique quilt from Miki. The pattern is “Goodness Grows” by The Fat Quarter shop and the fabric collection is Strawberry Jam by Corey Yoder for Moda. I quilted it edge to edge with the pattern Ginger Hearts.

As a quilter, I have heard so many great stories of other quilters and occasionally have been able to finish projects to complete their heirlooms.

This particular quilt has a great story. It was pieced by Buenaflora Curameng who was known to her family as Nana. She was born June 9, 1918 and passed away February 3, 2021. She made countless quilts for her kids, grandkids, great grandkids, great great grandkids, and many friends.

She began making woven blankets in the Philippines in her 20s. She later moved to Hawaii and began quilting in the 70s. As she got older, her eyesight declined but she was able to piece this last quilt top but was unable to quilt it.

I was truly honored to finish it so one more family member could have one of her quilts to cherish.
