Summer Sundays in the forests of Northeast Pennsylvania feel alive in a way that's hard to explain. The trees are speaking in leaf and shadow, the streams are carrying stories downstream, and every stone, stump, and tangled root seems to possess a spirit all its own.

The Familiar is open today, Saturday, from 10am–6pm.

Saturday belongs to Saturn —the old god of thresholds, stone walls, grave soil, iron keys, weathered bones, and hard-earned wisdom. While other planetary powers chase glory and attention, Saturn sits quietly at the edge of the village, counting seasons and reminding us that everything has a price, a purpose, and eventually, a passing.

In folk magic, Saturday is a powerful day for protection, banishing, ancestor work, breaking unhealthy patterns, setting wards, and tending the spirits of place. Leave an offering at an old tree. Speak to the land beneath your feet. Sit quietly long enough to hear what the house spirit, garden spirit, or forgotten corner of the property has been trying to tell you.

The old ways understood that the world is alive. Every stream has a mood. Every stone remembers. Every crossroads keeps secrets. Some spirits whisper blessings. Others simply watch to see if you're paying attention.

The fireworks are over. The grills are cooling down. Half the neighborhood is wondering where they left their lawn chairs. And Mother Nature has apparently decided to continue the celebration with afternoon thunderstorms.

Honestly? Storms don't ask permission. They don't follow schedules. They roll in, shake things up, clear the air, and leave everything a little different than before.

With storms in the forecast, now is the perfect time to gather storm water. Traditionally used in folk magic for power, transformation, protection, courage, banishing, road opening, and giving spellwork a little extra backbone.

⚡ Use storm water for:
