This is a new commissioned painting that I just completed. It was a fun challenge. It is the second painting I've done for my customer. She gives them to her children as gifts.
She supplied me with a sketch with a rough layout, and also a bunch of photos showing her son's house in summer (and winter) weather, and his family. She wanted an accurate rendering of the flowers, shrubs, trees, and the wooden front door...opened enough for the family dog to look out at them all. She even wanted me to include an oriole's nest, because they had a nesting pair last year.
In advance, I wanted to set a realistic expectation that it would be next to impossible to render their faces accurately because they were so small (they take up areas on the canvas that are less that an half-inch wide).
The painting is on an 11" x 14" stretched canvas. I'm also including her sketch.
