Made this for an amazing woman, mother, and nurse. Mid weight everyday shaped western for her. We did a bit under 4in brim to keep it a bit more outfit friendly. Finished it with a decommissioned and decontaminated firehose. Interesting fact, this hose was used in the past 30 years of California fires and was decommissioned shortly after the devastating Tubs Fire. Sshhhh let's see if her cop husband notices.

Why choose beaver? This felt is 85% beaver & 15% chinchilla. Why does that matter. The beaver makes it water-resistant with extreme durability and longevity. It also has chinchilla added to give it a luxurious feel. This hat was completely deconstructed to build back better than before. You can't do that with a cheap hat.

ever wonder why you see hat makers sand aka pounce a felt?
It removes the loose fibers
Creates a uniform finish
Smooths it out
And can make a hell of a mess
It's important to know that not all felts require sanding. You can actually damage some by doing it. Also, your grit sandpaper is detrimental to a proper job.
