FORNEY MUSIC PEOPLE… WHERE Y’ALL AT? 🎶👀

Forney is beginning the process of becoming a Music Friendly Texas Certified Community — and this could be about a lot more than putting on concerts.

It’s about connecting the people who make a local music scene possible.

🎤 Singers
🎸 Musicians
🎧 DJs
🎛️ Producers + engineers
🥁 Bands
🎶 Promoters
🏢 Venues
…and everybody working behind the scenes.

The bigger question for us:

WHAT COULD A REAL FORNEY MUSIC SCENE LOOK LIKE?

And who is already here creating that we just haven’t discovered yet?

👇 TAG SOMEBODY WE NEED TO KNOW.

If you make music, perform, produce, DJ, book shows, own a potential venue or work anywhere in the local music world — introduce yourself in the comments too.

Forney’s first community workshop in the Music Friendly Texas certification process is:

📅 Monday, Sept. 21
⏰ 3 PM
📍 City Hall Annex + online
✅ Open to the public

We’re paying attention to the process — but we’re even more interested in finding the PEOPLE.

Let’s build the beat. 🎶

FORNEY — the restaurants will get attention. But your utility bill may be the bigger City Hall story tonight. 👀

Forney City Council meets tonight at 6:30 PM, and several recognizable development projects are up for consideration:

☕ 7 Brew
🍕 Hideaway Pizza
🏥 Encompass Health
🦷 Forney Dental

Important: These site plans are up for Council consideration. They have NOT been approved yet.

But keep swiping. ➡️

Council will also consider proposed utility rate-schedule changes:

💧 Water: +8.7%
🚿 Sewer: +9.9%
🗑️ Garbage: +5%

There is also a proposed change to how residential sewer usage is calculated. These are proposals until Council acts, and the actual impact on individual households would vary by usage and account.

Also on our radar tonight: proposed tighter data-center zoning restrictions, a proposed Goodwill donation collection center, and a proposed data-sharing agreement with the Dallas Housing Authority.

The businesses are the hook. The decisions are the story.

We’ll watch the votes tonight and come back with:

WHAT PASSED.
WHAT DIDN’T.
WHAT IT MEANS.

FORNEY — what do you want us watching closest tonight? 👀👇

FORNEY — DRIVING THROUGH DOWNTOWN TONIGHT? 🚧👀

Give yourself a little extra time.

Pavement marking work is underway throughout Downtown Forney, and crews may be back out Tuesday evening.

🚧 WHAT TO EXPECT:
• Pavement marking work
• Possible temporary overnight closures
• Crews and equipment moving throughout the downtown area

📍 Downtown Forney
🕢 Work began around 7:30 PM
📅 Work may continue Tuesday evening, Sept. 15

If you're heading downtown for dinner, working late or simply passing through, use caution and be prepared for temporary changes as crews move through the area.

SAVE this before you head downtown — and send it to somebody who regularly drives through the area.

7 BREW. HIDEAWAY PIZZA. ENCOMPASS HEALTH. FORNEY DENTAL. 👀

All four are on Tuesday night’s Forney City Council agenda — but there’s an important distinction:

They are NOT approved yet.

The site plans have recommendations for approval from city staff and Planning & Zoning. City Council considers them next.

SWIPE ➡️ to see where each project is proposed.

And keep swiping, because the recognizable names aren’t the only things worth watching Tuesday.

Council is also scheduled to consider:

• A proposed Goodwill donation collection center
• Proposed zoning regulation changes involving data centers
• Proposed utility and city fee schedule changes
• A proposed data-sharing agreement with the Dallas Housing Authority

That’s the part of City Hall coverage we want to keep building at Forney Connected:

What’s being proposed.
What’s actually being considered.
And, most importantly, what Council actually decides.

We’ll follow up after the meeting.
