A little full-circle moment from Huntsville.
At Hamcation earlier this year, Renè and Julie from POTA Power were firm about there aren’t enough women in ham radio and apparently I was their next recruit. And I have to give them credit, they are so right!!
Somewhere in all of that, I ended up with a Ham Radio Prep study book and decided I might as well actually do this.
So I studied the book, took the practice quizzes and tests while listening to Professor Jim’s very familiar voice and eventually…
I PASSED! In June.
Fast-forward to Huntsville, where I got to see James from Ham Radio Prep / World Radio League again and finally tell him in person that I had passed and was officially KR4NCO.
James asked if I’d gotten my Technician pin. I hadn’t so he went and got one for me.
From being talked into getting licensed at Hamcation to showing up at Huntsville with my own call sign and finally getting that pin, I’d say the plan worked.
Who says there are not enough women in ham radio? Renè and Julie you got one more!
