Freedom Hall

Freedom Hall This is a private home. Formerly the YMCA and Schaeffer Pen Club House. This facility became a YMCA in the 1960s, and is now a private residence.

Originally the Sheaffer Clubhouse (331 Avenue D), a recreation and exercise center that W.A. Sheaffer built for his employees in 1927 (the dress code for exercising ladies apparently called for black bloomers and hose, and white shirts—spandex had not yet been invented nor would likely have been tolerated in those days of relative modesty).

Introducing the newest resident of Freedom Hall...Nana!! Nana is a soft coated wheaten terrier (wheaten being the same color as the carpeting of Freedom Hall as pictured). She is proudly named after the fam-favorite(yes we mean fam) character of Nana in the world famous story of Peter Pan. The line of residents named after Peter Pan characters will continue since the beginning of our other current resident, Princess Tigerlily ***the crowds react with : "ooohhh's" and "ahhh's" "so original."***

Who will join us next? Check back in a few weeks and see!!!
