WTH?! How do you gain 2.5 lbs in one day after a heavy workout? I got on the scale this morning expecting to see a lower number than I saw yesterday morning. I had a great macro day, protein high, carbs and fat just right AND a new, but heavy workout. Instead, 2.5 lbs heavier! Science tells us there’s a reason for that.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, that heavy workout caused micro tears in my muscle, which triggered an inflammatory response..Bottom line, I’m holding extra water as the muscle repairs. Lesson learned: Thou shall not rely on the number on the scale as the only measure to health and wellness. Goal Weight = Strong AF. So true and a good story. Just a couple of years ago when working with my then personal trainer, I told him I wanted to start working towards powerlifting. His reply to me was ‘What does your husband think about that.’ Now granted, I’m in my 50’s (I’m a YOUNG 50’s thank you LOL) and mr. trainer is about the same age group.. But whaaa whaat???! Do I need to bring a note that says my husband approves of me lifting heavy? Fast forward, new personal trainer and same supportive cute hubby.
