And that's a wrap on the Prom/Spring Wedding sewing season for 2026!

It's has been a rewarding and very busy season of sewing, teaching ELA, celebrating our middle child's college graduation, and living the baseball mom life with our youngest.

I'm finishing my current sewing commitments this week, then taking some time off to savor summer outside of the sewing room.

I'll be back to scheduling appointments beginning June 15.

Olivia's dream prom dress was only available in a size too large. This was an extensive alteration to take in the seams on all three layers of fashion fabric and lining. I also ended up reseting the zipper to make the silhouette drape properly along the side seam. But the dress was just so perfect for her that it was worth it! I love the burgundy color with floral surface texture that was very much on-trend for .

Liv wanted to add unique design interest to the hem of her mermaid silhouette prom dress. So we curved the slit to the hemline and kept just a few inches of the train for a graceful sweep that still allowed for dancing. Working on Taylor's shimmering prom dress made me feel a little bit like a fairy godmother. I hemmed the layers of satin and tulle, tapering the front into the sweeping train that made for elegant photos. Then I created a 4-point French bustle to lift the train so she could dance until the stroke of midnight.

Lorelei and Katy loved their dresses but wanted to add a personal design touch. Lorelei's maroon, floral-detailed dress fit perfectly. It just needed some bedazzled straps to pick up the subtle silver detail on the fabric and draw focus to her face. Katy's classic black beaded gown needed something more substantial than spaghetti straps to fit comfortably and improve the design proportions. Small changes. Big design difference.

I use thread that matches the original stitching and interface hem allowances so they won't roll, stretch, or pucker. For your fitting, pre-wash your jeans and bring the shoes you plan to wear with them. Jeans/trousers fittings generally take about 20 minutes. During prom season, please allow 1-2 weeks for me to complete your project.
