One jacket. Three rooms it has to survive: the boardroom, buttoned and doing its job. Sunday, open over jeans, doing something looser. A flight, thrown over a dress because packing light is its own discipline. If a piece can't clear all three, it doesn't make the collection - it's a costume for one occasion, not part of a system.

She doesn't want a wardrobe. She wants a system.

Lindsay's new essay for The Well-Dressed Mind starts with the sentence she hears more than any other in the store: "I have nothing for this trip." It's never really about the trip. It's about the room.

Her fix — the three-occasion test. Take one piece you already reach for. Name three completely different rooms it has to work in. Boardroom. Brunch. The flight home when the cabin gets cold. Two is a coincidence. Three is a system.

It's also the same standard every piece has to clear before it makes an LNNY collection.

That sweater — a gift from Lindsay's mother, worn for 15 years, survived moths, a tree branch, and three attempts to throw it away — is the reason the Drew Sweater exists.
