Venus Retrogrades in Scorpio- Sacred Desires, Deep Emotional Journeys, Powerful Karmic Reunions
On October 5th, Venus, the feminine planet of love,beauty, desire and self-worth, turns retrograde at 10 degrees of Scorpio. Scorpio, the 8th sign of the zodiac, and the deepest sign of the 12, represents: shared resources, s*x, power, transformation and death/rebirth. Venus has been in her "detriment" in the sign of Scorpio, meaning she is very weak and fragile. Planets become "detriment" when they sit in the opposite sign that the planet naturally rules. In this case, Venus naturally rules Ta**us, which is the opposite sign of Scorpio. Venus retrograding in Scorpio, is all about confronting our inner darker and deeper aspects of love, desire and partnership. Venus doesn't like to be here cause all she wants to do is have fun, be pretty and enjoy herself. Scorpio will demand, especially during her retrograde phase, that she face her demons head on. Scorpio is a sign of absolutes, an all/or nothing type of energy. Venus retrograde in Scorpio will be a chance for the feminine to embrace where she is in pain. In order to do so, she will have to go down to the deepest chambers of heart and soul and "get real" about her power, purpose and most profound desires.
Venus retrogrades are quite rare, in fact the most uncommon of all the inner planets. Venus retrogrades every 18 months and every 8 years, she repeats the same cycle of signs/degrees. Think back to were you where 8 years ago,(Oct/Nov 2010) as she will circle back to almost the exact same sign and degrees of this current Venus retrograde. Similar themes and situations may appear to be hashed out or revisited. For myself, I became deathly ill at that time from a serious kidney infection, that nearly killed me. Ironically, on the day Venus entered back into Libra in 2010, was when I was admitted into the hospital. Libra in astrology represents the kidneys, believe it or not. Sometimes, the astrology is that literal. Whether exact events repeat or not, its important to look back to the lessons of that time. The universe will want to see how far you have grown and integrated such realizations into your life, as they might come back to be tested one more time.
Another phenomenon with Venus retrograde, will be her transition from her current evening star position, over to a morning star, once she is direct. Her descent to the "underworld" during the retrograde phase will prepare her for her arrival to greet us in the morning once direct. If you were born with your Venus sign in the proceeding sign or after your Sun sign, then you were born under an "Evening Star" Venus. Evening star Venus, tends to make one more feminine, dreamy and romantic when expressing their desires and wants. If you were born with your Venus sign in the previous sign or degrees of your Sun sign, then you were born under a "Morning Star" Venus. Morning star Venus, tends to make one more masculine, direct, and fiery when expressing their desires and wants. Let me share an example in case you are confused. My Sun sign is at 7 degrees of Aquarius and my Venus is at 29 degrees of Aquarius. Since Venus is farther along in degrees then my Sun sign, meaning she appears after my Sun, then my Venus is an evening star. If it was the other way around, such as my Sun at 29 degrees of Aquarius and my Venus at 7 degrees of Aquarius, then my Venus would be ahead of my Sun, thus making her a morning star. Venus as she retrogrades will move back to Libra as of November 1st. Once she turns direct on November 16th, she will have moved back to 25 degrees of Libra. What is so interesting about this is she begins the retrograde phase within Scorpio her "detriment" sign and goes direct within Libra, her sign of "exaltation". Exalted planets are powerful and only second as strong as a planet being in its home sign. Once Venus directs in Libra on November 16th, she will have super powers and be ready to take on anything. Her direct motion within the lovely and gentle sign of Libra, will restore faith and trust again to our heart space. Its almost like she had to go to the dark underworld while in her retrograde phase in Scorpio, to transcend and emerge with balance, grace and hope as she turns direct in Libra.
Venus retrograde through Scorpio then Libra, is here to show us what needs to transform and evolve within our partnerships, desires and unions. Her retrograde phase is an excellent time to remove the clutter and cobwebs that limit our abilities to be fully loving and engaging with ourselves and others. This Venus retrograde could bring back karmic partnerships from the past. Whether or not these manifest forward, their arrival is here to show us who we are and where we stand in relationship to our wants and desires. There will be a call to get real about certain feelings, people and situations. Some of those might have to go as they are not serving our highest state of being. This Venus retrograde cycle with all its intensity and power, will be about us coming home to our heart and making peace within it. Venus within her descent to the darker realms of consciousness, will ask you to find the light and hope in the most difficult of places. As she arises direct in the morning sky by mid November, you will have felt like you came through an exploration of great depths and tests. Venus retrograde is here to have you realize the power and purpose of your heart space. She asks you to not be afraid of your darkness but to love every aspect of it. Venus retrograde is about honoring it "all" with absolute unconditional love, acceptance and grace.
Venus will be retrograde in Scorpio until November 1st and then move back to Libra. She will turn direct at 25 degrees of Libra on November 16th.
