Exciting time this week: doing some eco-printing as part of a custom-designed ensemble for a Mother-of-the-Groom. 1: Placing the leaves on the silk, 2: The fabric and leaves all rolled up and tightly wound, simmering in a dye bath, 3: T V he printed silk - success! Just finished a fun custom order: aprons for a 5 year old girl and a 7 year old boy. Having never met (let alone measured!) these two, it was a little tricky, but I think they came out pretty cute!

Ah, the joys of wedding dress season! Here’s an especially lovely one I’ve had the privilege of altering recently: it’s a Jenny Yoo design, silk organza. The train is so full and long, I needed to create four bustles to make it dance-able!

This is the most fun custom sewing assignment I’ve had this spring (although the troll clothes were quite fun as well!). The marvelous choreographer/comedienne wanted to transform onstage into a disco ball - so - Voila!
I’m now deep into a six-layer wedding dress, feeling so lucky for the bizarre variety in my life!

Here’s a sneak peek at creating a marbled pattern. Come join the “Marbling Experience” at my Freeport studio, either May 23rd or 24th, 10:00-4:00. The cost is $145, and you’ll take home a 72” long silk scarf (a $98. value), plus other marbled bits and bobs as well.

Have you ever wanted to try the ancient art of marbling? Now is your chance! I’m offering a “Marbling Experience” on May 23rd and 24th at our Freeport studio. Participants will spend a day floating and manipulating colors on a tank of thickened water to make gorgeous designs, and take home a one-of-a-kind 72” long silk scarf. Cost is $145 for the day.
