The H**p Shack is Central California's first cannabis h**p store and collective. Established in 1995 the founder, David McCarthy worked with the likes of Dennis Peron, Dave Kinzer, and Jack Herer to spread the word about the many benefits of cannabis and eventually to legalize medical ma*****na (California's Health & Safety Code: 11362.5.) The H**p Shack became much more than just a place to buy h

**p items, a tie-dye, a b**g, or some Nag Champa incense. It became a movement of the people, serving as Central California's NORML headquarters for many years. As a group they worked together to put Proposition 215 on the ballot giving Californian's the right to vote on legalizing medical ma*****na. The H**p Shack worked with Aaron Smith from Americans for Safe Access to protect the rights of patients. Even going so far as to bidding to establish a card distribution system for prop 215 patients here in Fresno. The H**p Shack also worked with community members to establish a local chapter of Americans for Safe Access and with Dr. Brown to help launch Medical Cannabis of Fresno, Inc. one of the first places in the Fresno/Visalia area to obtain a recommendation for medical ma*****na. As a community we organized marches and meet-ups unifying Fresno to speak up about ending cannabis prohibition once and for all. Over the years the industry has blown up, but we have stuck to our values of family over everything, commitment to quality products, sustainability and accountability to our mother earth.
