A Happy St. Patrick's Day to you all! πŸ€ I thought I'd share photos of this lovely skirt I got recently (for 50 cents!) which was made in Ireland, of 100% pure new wool. The brand is Blarney Castle and I believe it is somewhat vintage, not modern made. It is a wrap skirt that fastens on both sides with a leather strap! Such a lovely find, and it is so warm and comfortable. I love the fringed edge and all the pleats in the back. Makes me proud to wear it and to honor the Irish heritage I have on my mom's side. πŸ’š

New in the shop! This festive 1940s-style apron is such a fun way to add cheer to the season's kitchen adventures! Who else enjoys holiday baking? I always do, especially while listening to Christmas music. πŸŽ„

Check out the latest dress to come out of the sewing room! I really love this simple 1940s style. Shirring adds detail at the shoulders and it ties at the side like an imitation wrap dress. It was inspired by a dress worn in an original 1940s portrait. πŸ’š

And I'm finally back to join in the very last day of ! I missed a bit because of travel and life being busy, but I thought I'd share this 1950s inspired look. The skirt was thrifted and altered by me, and the blouse is a favorite of mine that I bought at a small retro shop in Salamanca, Spain. I love the roses on it - floral fabrics always are some of my favorites! Does anyone else have a certain print they've always loved (stripes, polka dots, florals, plaids etc)?

I really enjoyed getting to hear from everyone, and seeing all the other vintage fashion challenge posts. So much good inspiration! Have a delightful weekend everybody!✨️

1940s fashion for - and so here is my latest make - a 1940s-style suit set. I had fun making this last year, since I've always wanted a plaid jacket. It didn't turn out quite like a wished it had, but at least it can be fixed... now to find the time! πŸ™ƒ

My favorite era is, you guessed it, 1940s fashion (specifically wartime fashion)! The styles were pretty and feminine, yet simple, smart, and practical too, without too much fuss. And the little details, like gathers, pleats, tucks etc, added interest to basic silhouettes. ✨️ What is your favorite era of fashion, and why? I'd love to hear!

Green for - I do like green but sadly this is my only green vintage style piece. But I love it and it's special because it was the first dress I created from the beginning for myself, designing it based on original photos. Green is such a classic, cheerful color! Maybe I enjoy green so much because I wear blue almost always!πŸ™ƒ Does anyone else find themselves wearing one color almost all the time, or is it just me? :)

For blue day of I thought I'd share this lovely 1970s dress that I recently found at a local thrift store! I love keeping an eye out for true vintage pieces because you never know what you'll find. I had to do some research on the union-made label and from what I saw, it dates from the 1970s. I love the vibrant blue color and white square pattern (kinda like polka dots but with a modern flare). The shape does very well for a 1950s style, and it has a front zipper closure. πŸ’™ What is a thrifted piece that you are glad you found?

"Creating" is a prompt for so I thought I'd share some photos of the different outfits I have designed and created. I really enjoy 1940s fashion and it all started out with the first vintage dress I designed - a green and brown color-block dress. Using two tones of fabric was very popular in the 40s and is something I have always loved!

From there I went on to make several other colors/variations to put in my shop, and also a plaid suit jacket and skirt set. I love being able to recreate garments based on original photos. That has been a long-time dream and I am so excited to actually do it now! What has been a long-time dream/goal for you that has finally come true?✨️

Hi there and happy Friday! I thought I would jump onto although a few days late. :) But better late than never! So let me introduce myself:

My name is Elizabeth and I am a seamstress and fashion designer. I have been sewing for several years now, creating my own designs, which has been a long-time dream come true! I grew up watching old movies so my love of vintage clothing started long ago. I specifically fell in love with 1940s fashion after attending my first WWII event back about 9 years ago. I also teach sewing/fashion classes and I run an Etsy shop. And you'll often find me doing other odd sewing jobs for friends and family. I guess you could say I do a lot of sewing!πŸ™ƒπŸͺ‘🧡 And when I'm not in the middle of thread and fabrics, I enjoy cooking, baking, hiking, being in the beautiful outdoors, watching vintage movies/shows, listening to vintage music, and spending time with family and friends. What are some of your favorite hobbies? I'd love to hear!
