Dear Participants,

Today, we were notified that the heat index predicted for tomorrow morning is now higher than originally anticipated. In conjunction with George Mason University and Prince William County Government's excessive heat warning guidelines, we had to make the difficult decision to cancel tomorrow’s event. Even a casual fun-run is discouraged at this point, and we cannot risk the health and wellbeing of our participants.

Fun Run Racing strives to build a sense of community with every race we hold, so the idea that we cannot bring everyone together to celebrate the Fourth of July is a huge disappointment. This is the first time in 12+ years of directing local road races that we have had to cancel an event, so we are trying to navigate this as best we can. Unfortunately, most of the costs for managing the event have already been expended. So, we are unable to refund registration fees. That makes this decision even more difficult for us.

However, we will be offering all registrants a substantial discount off our 2026 Hero's Bridge Prince William Turkey Trot OR 2027 IMDC Freedom Firecracker. Please be on the lookout for a subsequent email with details.

Participants are welcome to pick up their medal, shirt, and bib at The Running Store in Gainesville beginning Monday, July 6th.
