My amazing, wonderful dad received the Legacy of Service award from the Greater Gardner Chamber of Commerce this evening.
He founded Dow Shoe in 1958. One of the few remaining traditional "sit-and-fit" shoe stores in the United States, my father built his business with an unwavering commitment to personalized service, quality and fit - creating a unique spirit that traversed generations of customers.
A true footwear expert, whose father was a shoemaker, my dad truly loved his work and his customers. He personified what it means to do "good business," demonstrating that it is the little things that make the most impact - gifting a pair of baby slippers to a couple expecting their first grandchild, providing multiple pairs of shoes for home-bound clients to try on approval - these are just a few examples of the way Mr. Dow did things.
My father passed away last December and leaves a rich legacy of service and achievement spanning over 65 years. We are proud and honored to carry it forward. Love you, Dad.
