It is our honor to recognize Missy Huling as the 2026 Hancock County inductee into the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame.
Since 2012 Missy Huling has taught more than 40 workshops and built skills in more than 600 youth in Hancock County. Through hands-on workshops in photography and visual arts, she inspired youth to explore new talents, build confidence, and express themselves creatively. Missy not only taught workshops, but also helped develop innovative workshop ideas that expanded opportunities for youth in Hancock County.
With 25 years of volunteer service with the Garner Ambulance and 20 years of employment with the Clear Lake Ambulance, Missy was well known and loved in the community. From volunteering to take photos for church directories to taking thousands of pictures every day at the Hancock County Fair; Missy was able to save memories for all the community while she captured great stories in her images. Missy took photographs of youth with their 4-H projects at the Hancock County Fair, providing families with treasured keepsakes and lifelong memories of their accomplishments and experiences in 4-H.
Missy shared her passion for photography by documenting Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in Hancock County’s 100 year anniversary through photography featured in the commemorative calendar.
Long time Hancock County Extension staff member Trece Lonneman remembers Missy very fondly by saying, “Missy was such a pleasure to work with and her gift was not only in the areas of photography and visual arts, but in the way that she connected with youth of all ages. She generously shared her time, talents, and creativity, leaving a lasting mark on the Hancock County 4-H community.”
Missy shared her gifts of creativity, photography, and mentorship with countless young people through Iowa State University Extension & Outreach in Hancock County. Not having Missy to capture all the fair moments will be felt far and wide – not only by the exhibitors and their families but also by the fair goers who always watched for her amazing photography.
