In the midst of the drama surrounding the presidential debate and upcoming election, I just wanted to take a moment to reflect on what happened 23 years ago today.
This is the moment America froze. Many lost their lives having just gone into a normal workday, like many of us do each day. They were mothers, father, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, and everything in between. They were hopeful for upcoming celebrations, stressing over life’s hard points, celebrating new family members and relationships, and mourning losses.
The rescue workers, professional and volunteer, that had the guts to spend days going in to pull out everyone they could, and the men and women who’ve volunteered to defend our freedom because of this moment, are some of the greatest examples of what humans can be.
Today, I pray that the families of those lost that day and because of that day find/found peace in the Lord. I pray that our country remembers the bonds and unity we formed that night and comes back together as one nation under God, like we were on 9/12/2001. May we never forget. May we never give up the fight for a unified nation and for freedom for all.
