I believe it is important for anyone to know more about the person behind a product and to know who you are supporting!
So…First off my name is Erin Wallace. I always dreamed of being a fashion designer, but it was always just a dream. I got my first sewing machine at a young age and simply played with it for a few weeks and dumped it in my closet for YEARS.
I never thought I was capable of art or even drawing a stick figure at that. I found art in high school when my art teacher made us do a shading project. Ever since that one project everything clicked for me and I realized I wasn’t giving my creative abilities enough credit.
I continued onto college and majored in public relations because I honestly had no idea what I wanted to do. I found myself always choosing to do research projects on sustainable fashion and fast fashion brands which opened my eyes to the harm of textile waist.
I started painting jackets and jeans during my college years and sold them to friends to make some extra cash because a girl was brokeeee. I then got into embroidery and other fun stuff. It wasn’t until over a year ago I decided to go home and get my dusty sewing machine out of the closet and try sewing bucket hats.
I made my first double-sided bucket hat in my college apartment living room (yes Ik my poor roommates). I then began doing small festivals selling the hats which sparked my interest to get back into clothing design.
I quickly got tired of just painting on clothing so I decided to make art out of fabric instead. This is really where my own style and creativity began to bloom.
Although it was a long journey to get here, everything happens for a reason. Without that one teacher, without that PR degree, without those research projects, and without that need to make some extra cash in college; I would probably not be here today doing what I love.
So thank you to everyone who has stayed with me on this journey and continues to support me, and thank you to everyone who is new here. All the love and support is appreciated and I know great things will come in my future if I just keep pushing!
