Imagine my surprise when this post from a library in Wisconsin showed up in my Facebook feed featuring one of my library book totes!
We sometimes hear about books people receive, but we especially loved this tote Audrey received over the holidays.
“This Christmas we decided to do four gifts for our girls (ages 2.5 and 8 months): something to wear, something to read, something you want, and something you need. The library bag was Audrey’s “something you need” gift because we didn’t have a bag to carry her books home when we visit the library. I wanted her to have a bag that would suit her for many years and many trips to the library. I found the bag on Etsy and the seller was able to personalize it for Audrey! … I wanted there to be a pocket for Audrey to put her library card when she gets her own someday.”
Katie, Audrey’s mom, also shared. "The resources we utilize the most are children’s story time and books. Occasionally I use Libby, and Hoopla. We mainly started coming to the library for story time when I transitioned to being a stay at home parent as a way to give Audrey some socialization & for us both to get out of the house. We love the songs that Anna plays at story time and listen to them frequently at home!
The library has made our life better by helping me to foster a love of reading in my children’s life. We have a lot of books at home, but we can get so many more “new” books at the library for free! Audrey loves picking out new books every week & she even knows how to use the computer to check out books!
I believe libraries are important to our community because they provide so many free resources that many people might not have access to on their own. From books to internet access, programs about technology safety for parents, and everything in between! Libraries are a staple in our community and more people should look into what they offer!”
