Ran across a video this weekend that made me π€£ for sure! And took me back to memories of working in grandmas salon.
"I mean I guess they call it a butterfly cut now. I just call it long layers."
So true, but also reminded me of grandma Irene. She didn't mince words, just said it like IT IS. π€π
When clients say I want (fill in the blank to the latest verbiage!), I say, show me a picture.
The insane amount of times I've been shown a S**g haircut in the last 30 years, while being explained 64 other terminologies of it. π€π€·ββοΈπ€π€£
I have a client, right now, with a Dorothy Hamill haircut. While this cut is also, same as S**g, before my hairdressing time, it wasn't before my grandma's. She was also a hairdresser, and taught me the foundation of hairdressing from an early age. By 12, I was washing hair and taking out rollers in her salon. 12 year olds can't do that anymore, under current regulations. Not even sure it was ok in 1984. π€π€·ββοΈ
To now say I have 36 years, licensed behind the chair, seems crazy! Feeling blessed right now, for sure. Can't wait to see this next chapter unfold!
Butterfly Cut Vs. Long Layers
=
Po-tay-toe Vs. Pa-ta-toe
Cut needs to fit the person, and their needs. Don't matter what you call the haircut during that decade. π€·ββοΈ
