I’m a big milk glass fan! It started in Venice in the 16th century. Early 20th century Parisians were crazy about he stuff. Chemically, its composition is different than plain glass. But what I really love is the way the United States great lake’s glass companies really ran with it during the Great Depression ! These perfect condition pieces were designed as ice cream sundae dishes but work just as well as water goblets! The white color makes them great to go with any other color! They work equally well with hot or cold!

In 1932, the Great Depression was in full swing and the developers of the new Rock City attraction near Lookout Mountain, Georgia had NO advertising budget. So they got creative! They sent out a painter to paint three words on every barn, birdhouse and bird-feeder he could find!
See Rock City could be found as far north as Michigan! Found this vintage feeder in great condition tucked under boxes at an estate sale! So excited to be bringing it to in May!

Fun fact, in 1933 that painter wanted to paint mailboxes with these three words, but the postal police said NO! So lucky for the rest of us, he turned to birdhouses and birdfeeders!
