🎉 Happy 6th anniversary with Zyia! 🎉 Time flies when you're having fun, and these past 6 years have been an incredible journey filled with growth, friendship, and endless support from our amazing Zyia community. 💙✨

It’s so hard to start new things isn’t it? How many of you have started a new job or maybe a new workout routine and were just like “I don’t know if I can do this”. Everything that’s unfamiliar is a learning process and developing new skills isn’t easy!

Becoming good at anything requires a process. A process of trial and error, asking a lot of questions, and most importantly being consistent. We don’t always love the process as we are going through it, but eventually the process WILL love you back. When you keep pushing forward, the process will become enjoyable and the things you thought you couldn’t do at first become second-nature.

Starting a new business venture in your 40s is a daunting process, but with the community that I was surrounding myself with, the process loved me back more quickly. If you’re afraid to start something new because you’re afraid of the learning curve or the new skills you’ll have to learn, just remember that if you stay consistent and surround yourself with helpful people, the process WILL love you back!

How many of you have felt “stuck” at some point in your life? Or maybe now? Feeling stuck is an indication that you’ve stopped growing, you’ve stopped challenging yourself or building something that you look forward to. So how do we get unstuck? It’s simple; by planning something to look forward to!

Here’s the kicker though, you can relieve this stuck feeling temporarily by planning a trip maybe or doing something short term that brings you joy. But, short term fixes won’t bring you long term growth. To live a life of purpose, one that you are satisfied with and look forward to everyday, you have to continuously challenge yourself.

I found myself feeling stuck in my forties because I reached a point of complacency with my life. I had been working the same job since I got out of college, my kids were older and more independent, and I had a routine that hadn’t changed much in last few years. I wasn’t unhappy by any means, but I didn’t have something I was working towards that allowed me to feel purposeful. Did you ever notice that in times when you most need a change, doors start to open?

That door for me was Zyia. For 5 years, I have been challenging myself, growing my business and my personal life and I’ve never felt more fulfilled. Zyia has given me this gift and I love sharing it with others!

“Success comes from the inside out. In order to change what is on the outside, you must first change what is on the inside.”

When I joined Zyia, I was only looking for an opportunity to get a discount on some awesome activewear! I wasn’t thinking much about business growth or personal growth, for that matter. As I met other reps and started to build this amazing community of women, I realized that my business did begin to grow and I became more inspired by the day to grow it further. I didn’t have a background in entrepreneurship, or a degree in marketing and I wasn’t up to date on all of the business trends, but here I was, watching my business take off. So, what changed?

As I look back now, I realize that I owe most of my success to changes happening inside of myself. When you are constantly surrounded by people cheering you on, you start to adopt a positive mindset. I began to change my entire perspective about who I was and what I was capable of doing simply because I was in a culture that supported growth. As my inside changed, so did my outside. Everything starts with our inner voice and what we choose to believe about ourselves. Make it positive! How do you do that? Surround yourself with uplifting people!❤️

I was lucky enough to partake in my 4th and FAVORITE Zyia summit this weekend and it was nothing short of amazing! One of my favorite things about these summits is getting to meet the amazing reps from around the country and seeing the inspiring community that Zyia has created for us. It’s truly humbling.

Zyia’s community is like no other. It includes women who fiercely fight for each other’s success, who push you through your doubts, and inspire you to be the best version of yourself. This weekend, I was reminded of WHY I joined this community. We laughed, cried, danced, inspired, and left with a fresh outlook on our businesses and our lives; that’s what Zyia is all about! Alone we can only do so much, but together we can truly do anything! I feel so blessed to be a part of this community and everything that it has given me. It changed my life, and I want it to change yours too!

I think one of the biggest reasons people hold themselves back from new opportunities is because they have a “fixed mindset” and might not even know it. Having a fixed mindset means that you view things like intelligence, abilities, and talent as inherent traits that cannot change over time. This might sound like “I’m not a math person” or “I’m not creative”. On the other hand, someone with a growth mindset views intelligence, abilities, and talents as learnable and capable of improvement through effort!

When I was introduced to Zyia, I was guilty of having more of a fixed mindset. I thought only certain “types” of people could be successful at this business. I also started in my mid-forties, so learning all of the trades of an e-commerce business was daunting. BUT, I took on a growth mindset thanks to my amazing community within Zyia. I realized that everything is learnable and talent is not inherent, it can be nurtured just like any other trait you would like to have!

I encourage you to stop labeling yourself as a certain type of person, and start taking chances knowing that ANYTHING can be improved and eventually become second-natured.

“On the other side of temporary discomfort is your future self”

How many times do you stop yourself from doing something because it’s too painful/uncomfortable/awkward in the moment? Maybe you’re doing a really hard workout and you stop because you feel like your body can’t handle any more. Or maybe you’ve tried a job and quit because it’s too unfamiliar and you think you’ll never be successful at it.

But, what if you stayed? What if you stuck with it and realized that, with time, the discomfort goes away and is replaced with competence? When I first started my business, I had doubts. I wondered if I was capable of learning how to do this business successfully and if I could keep up with all of the trends. Of course I had set backs just like anything else in life, but I stuck with it.

Change can only happen when you choose to stay when things are uncertain or difficult. Discomfort is temporary. Unfamiliarity is temporary. Deciding to never take a chance is permanent!

I am a big fan of entrepreneur Ed Mylett, not only for his advice about business, but also because his advice can be applied to just about anything in your life. I recently listened to one of his podcasts about the 10 keys to maxing out your life, and so many of his points resonated with me, but this one in particular really stuck out.

“Put yourself in circumstances that require more from you than you think you are capable of. As you succeed, you build a new waterline.”

I’ve talked about the importance of changing your environment when it’s not serving you, and I think this is another great way to look at that point. When I contemplated joining Zyia, I was so afraid that I wouldn’t be capable of growing my own business (or even starting a business!).

How many of you look at other people’s successes and think “I couldn’t do that because I don’t have time, or the skill, or the money, etc…”? But, we’ve all been faced with some really hard things in our life that we had no choice but to face. Think about a time you thought you could never get through and then you did. I bet you came out of that situation stronger, not weaker.

The only way we can change our circumstances and ultimately our life, is to put ourselves through things that require a lot from us. We can only evolve when we overcome challenges. I had to put aside comfort for a while in order to become successful at my business. As I put myself in situations that required more and more of me, challenges became more doable.
