You can walk in the actual footsteps of dinosaurs in Texas, and the tracks are real. 🦕 In the bed of the Paluxy River at Dinosaur Valley State Park, giant three toed prints and massive round sauropod tracks are pressed into 113 million year old limestone.

These were made along the shoreline of an ancient sea, when the mud was soft and enormous creatures lumbered across it. When the river runs low and clear, you can step right into the tracks and feel just how huge these animals truly were. 🌊

The park is more than fossils, with clear swimming spots, wooded trails, and cedar covered bluffs that make it a favorite Texas escape. But nothing beats that jolt of standing in a footprint left before Texas, or people, existed at all.
