Hey y’all hey! Happy holidays and Happy new year… 2 days in lol! Just a quick post to let you know that after a whirlwind of a year, Workshops are back at Backstitch! We’re going to ease into the year but there will be a later post with exact dates and times. I can confirm that there will be a work shop near the end of January “Basics at Backstitch” (that’s what I’m calling it for now) where you learn general sewing. Then workshops to bring in your own piece to upcycle throughout the year. Hoping to make this a bi monthly thing. TBD. There will also be workshops around Valentine’s Day, the date and time for those will also be posted later. Ok! Sew all the things!

Here’s another AMAZING customer, . She’s does so much and I’m always excited to be apart of her events. The way she tackles life is inspiring and I always feel uplifted when she stops in. These are a few things we’ve made for over the years. Since she’s a type one diabetic we’ve added a lot of pockets to dresses with a little hole for pump access. It’s been eye-opening and educating working with her to create costumes and clothing alterations that increase wearability for persons with medical devices. Again, does all the things and I love it 🥰. I’m such a fan lol!

Thinking about how awesome Backstitch customers are. All personality 😁! On this occasion we tailored almost all of the wedding parties suits. About 8 in total if I remember correctly (maybe 6?). A variety of colors, a variety of body types, all looking for a particular fit. Lots of hemming , tapering, removing shoulder pads, taking in sleeves… making a new suit really 😅. It was such a fun experience with a fantastic group of people.

Happy Labor Day weekend! As we’re tightening up the wardrobe for the coming school year, we’ve been doing a lot of hemming lately (especially for my petite folks😉). Here’s an idea for those extra long cutoffs. Let us make a cross body bag for you! Or anything really. In this case, we joined the hem pieces, added snaps and a strap. Et Voila! 1of, upcycle , goes with your wardrobe. Boom. (I just dated myself with that “boom”, let me be 😅)

Free Backpacks! Free! If you’re an unintentional procrastinator like me, this is for you! I’ll have backpacks at the shop all week or Until supplies last! Also, I have size 6/7 yellow ands few white uniform shirts for anyone to take. My hope is to start a yearly uniform swap . You are welcome to bring in gently used uniform shirts and pants for swapping or donating. Message me if you have questions!

I promise I’ll be more intentional with the posts y’all but this weekend, weekend, was so exciting. A lot of WORK but exciting! Both festival days, I was working on site at to add a little razzle dazzle to their iconic tees. These are couple but there were some pretty amazing products pushed out in those few days.

Over here at Backstitch, we looove cosplay. So we get so excited when we get to be apart of the process. This is the second time we worked with this awesome cosplayer to stitch up his character threads. I couldn’t wait for the official photos but they sent me some they took themselves at . Eeeeee!

Trying out a couple things with these shirts I had in my t-shirt stash and some denim cutoffs. An upcycled skirt and shirt. Currently pushing my limits to see what I can make during the last hour of the day at the shop😅.

Alterations for the alterator ( it’s not a word but it is now 😈). Lol! Y’all these are a size 40 mens pants that I found in my basement. Took in the waist to fit me and used the waistband cuttoff for a tab cuffed hem to fit closer at the ankle. It’ll be so cuter with a cropped shirt or some boots and a winter vest.

Guys! I’m so excited about being able to use my machine foot from another machine. It allows me to use my clip on attachments on my vintage machine. I don’t have all the attachments for the vintage lady but switching the foot saves me soooo much! Please excuse how much I say short shank😅. *This is a short shank machine. Industrial machines have a long shank.
