What is Dhul Hijjah?
Dhul Hijjah is expected to begin on 18th May 2026.
The Day of Arafah is predicted to fall on the 26th of May 2026, and Eid Al-Adha to be on the 27th or 28th of May 2026, depending on moon sightings. The beginning and end of months and events in Islam depend on the moon.
The month of Dhul Hijjah is one of the most sacred times of the Islamic year.
Many people don’t know that the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah are better than all the other days of the year – even better than the days of Ramadan!
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: There are no days on which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these 10 days.

The importance of Dhul Hijjah

A month of increased spirituality, we witness 2 very special events – all in devotion to Allah (SWT).
Not only is this the month of Hajj, but also the blessed day of Eid al-Adha.
On this day, each and every one of us, who is able to, offer a qurbani – just as Prophet Ibrahim (AS) did – in devotion to Allah (SWT) and to help vulnerable communities in need across the globe.
What does Dhul Hijjah mean?
Dhul Hijjah means “the month of pilgrimage”. The Hajj is so significant in Islam that the entire month is named after this sacred act, despite only lasting for 5 days.
Dhul Hijjah is the 12th month in the Islamic Calendar and is often referred to as the month of Hajj or pilgrimage, as well as marking the Day of Arafah and Eid Al-Adha.
Dhul Hijjah is one of four sacred months, and during this month, fighting was made forbidden to ensure that pilgrims were able to go to and from Hajj in safety.
