Amidst rewarding exchanges with customers, a news headline popped up about fireworks being cancelled across the nation. It caused a surge of joy.
After decades of helping people reduce heavy metals and other toxins, I’d hoped to make a post inviting consideration of fireworks’ significant impact on health. I find it hard to understand why most people don’t consider the direct impact fireworks have on air & water quality…After polluting the air for 24 hours, toxic metal salts, black powder, perchlorates and other harmful substances go directly into our waters, posing health risks to all living things.
Can we gauge the value of preventing such negative impacts before going for the next fix of loud & fiery explosions?
Many people love animals, but the impact of fireworks on most pets and other beings far more sensitive to sound than humans, is traumatic. Many experience fireworks as terrifying threats causing panic with fatal consequences.
What do days and nights of explosions feel like to veterans reminded of their most traumatizing and tragic times?
It seems absurd to spend precious resources to foul our air and water. In my neighborhood, it sounds like people literally have money to burn.
