Wow! That was a fun, productive learning experience. Kevin sharpened about 40 knives. Thanks, Kevin! OK! Sooooo.........8 were shop knives while the others were knives he was sharpening for a restaurant in Muskegon.......EXCEPT for ONE!!! A customer saw the opportunity and fetched a glove box, lock-blade pocket knife from his car and had it sharpened. Success! So cool! Kevin would like to create more of a presence in the Grand Rapids area with his sharpening business and I'd like to help him. He's offered to come back once a month and I concurred whole heartedly, so you'll get another chance soon. I wasn't certain then, but I am now, so you Fencers, Crusaders, Odd Fellows, LARPERS, Pirates and the like should bring your swashbucklin' swords and such in for a spin on the wheel and watch it work while it sings it's sparky song. It's a gritty & grinding & humming & happy sing-a-long song. Complete with fireworks! OOOOOHH!!! AAAAAAHH!!! Geeez! I love this place! And you!!! Peace.

I know it's short notice, but tomorrow, Saturday March 7, my friend Kevin from Holland is holding a KNIFE SHARPENING EXHIBITION inside my shop. We'll set up a space in my studio giving you the opportunity to see him in action. BRING YOUR KNIVES!!! HE'LL SHARPEN THEM FOR A FEE while you watch and wait. $8-10 for 1. Quantity discounts. The action unfolds: 2:00PM-5:00PM. No protective gear needed. Goofy goggles, chain mail, "V" masks, swashbuckler capes and pirate attire welcome! Hope to see y'all! Happy New Year Everybody! Hope you're keeping warm and safe.....and SCARY! Don't forget: SEEK, FIND, BE SCARY! That's one of my Captain Bizzaro's mottos. Ya know, when I say "scary" what I really mean is to be expressive. Surprise yourself. Stop & look. Notice. Explore. Seek. Find. Do. ✌️Process. Learn, about yourself, about others and the world around you. Take a chance. Wear yellow. Make eye contact, smile and say "hey" to a stranger. Take the bus. Eat less sugar. Pick up some trash. And then, who knows, maybe others take notice of your "scary" actions and attitudes and pick up some of those, too. You know it's working when that stranger, from a solemn, sullen face turns aglow with a beaming smile. That's when you know it works, just that quick, like a lightning bolt. What a feeling it is. Everybody is a winner.

Merry Christmas everybody! Seems like only yesterday I was snurfing the sand dunes in Grand Haven on my new, Brunswick "Snurfer". Complete with industrial staples imbedded in the board for foot grips, 2,000 pound tencil strength nylon rope for handle, and sporting a NASCAR quality paint job: yellow with black stripes. $19.95 at Meijer. There were 2 styles to choose from. The fancy one was $29.95. They were dramatically displayed upright in a big, cardboard box emblazened with "How-To-Snurf" images and located at the end of the aisle for highest visibilty. FYI: There were National Snurfing Contests each winter at the BlockHouse in Muskegon. Jim Palmer and The Trimm brothers won trophies. Seems like they were top 3. I remember it going like this: 3 Heats/Straight downhill course/2 best combined times wins. Locals won most of the trophies. Other entries were from New Hampshire, Vermont, Colorado and other states. Get out there and make some memories! Today's the day! MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU!

Update on our continued adventures at Captain Bizzaro’s!! We have had an ever incoming flow of vintage apparel into the store; including t-shirts, jackets, and loads of jeans! There is more and more media sorted, out, and priced! This new media includes books, comics, and our oh so popular postcards! Lastly, we have unearthed boxes of Transformers and gotten them priced and put on display!

We’ve got one final announcement to make - soon to come is our Studio Bizzare!! Made for our own studio use as well as for your own; we would love to help facilitate the creation of affordable creative content, portrait photography, ebay photography, and other related activities here at Captain Bizzaro’s.
