Why are alterations so expensive?

A BRIDAL Alterations Specialist is a service provider, and as such, should charge the same as other service providers in your area. Electricians, plumbers, and AC repairmen - these service providers in my area charge $75-$120 an hour, plus they have a fee just to come to the house, and additional charges for supplies used.

"But, the alterations cost more than what I paid for the dress!"

When you receive a quote from the plumber do you say "But that costs more than the pipes!"

All service providers have a particular skill set that is worth the price they charge. Charges are based on the complexity and time required to finish the work. The more lace, beads, and layers in your gown, along with the number of changes you want to make, all determine how long it will take to complete your alterations.
