The days are getting shorter. Might as well make the evenings last.

Bradley Mountain's Palo Santo & Ginger and Fraser Fir & Redwood are hand-poured soy candles, made in the USA, with about 40 hours of burn in each jar. In the middle is a coiled beeswax candle. You feed it up through the brass clip as it burns, so you can light it for an hour or for the whole night.

People keep telling us the refillery counter looks like an old pharmacy. We've decided to take that as a compliment and run with it.

On Saturday, October 24, from 5 to 7pm, we're hosting Apothecary 101. It's two hours on what's on the apothecary shelf, what it's for, and how to keep it stocked without buying more than you need. Tickets are $47, spots are limited, and every ticket comes with a $5-off-$25 coupon.

There's a specific smell that means the season has actually turned. Not the calendar, not the first pumpkin display at the grocery store. The smell of a room at 6pm when it's already dark out and something warm is burning on the counter.

Our fall candles and seasonal goods are in, from makers we'd buy from even if we didn't run a store. This is the time of year they go fastest, so if there's one you come back to every fall, now's the time.

Shop in store Wednesday through Sunday at 134 N. Prospect St., or order online and pick it up when you're in town.
