Contrasting with your typical antique storeroom, Sunchild’s Parlour presents a warm, welcoming space designed to honor and showcase old relics in all their glory with the intention of encouraging the creation of new, vintage-inspired spaces incorporating both vintage clothing and furniture. Named after Sami Sunchild, a Haight Street icon—a Doctor in Transformational Art and Societal Change, famous

for her community service, environmental activism, and numerous operations dedicated to peace and social justice—Sunchild’s Parlour focuses heavily on community assurance by supporting local artists and designers. To Latronica, a longtime local arts supporter himself, the key to creating style relies not only on the objects in a room, but how they interact with one another, and tell their own stories. Designed in conjunction with the natural layout of the Red Vic, Latronica is excited to see how the story of Sunchild’s Parlour will work its way into the long, historical narrative of hotel, and how both spaces will transform.
