ABOUT SWIM WITH HAILEY
Previously certified as an ISR Instructor in 2021. Through working with children of all ages (6months - 13 years old) and abilities (ODD, ADHD, ASD, Developmentally Delayed, Hearing impaired, Non-Verbal, MS, Cerebral palsy, etc.), I have learned different approaches and structures that work better for my students and their families, that led me to step away from ISR in 2024.
I am thankful for the techniques learned and am continually motivated to build a program that truly works for EVERY child, no matter what their differences are. ABOUT LESSONS
Self-Rescue Swim Lessons are scheduled 4 days per week, Monday through Thursday, for 10 minutes each day for an average of 5-6 weeks. My focus is to guide my students into becoming strong INDEPENDENT swimmers that have the means to save themselves and/or survive until help arrives if they should ever find themselves in the water alone. For ages 9months old - 15months old: My main goal is to insure they master their float independently and also fully clothed. We will assimilate some scenarios of how a child might end up in a situation where this skill is necessary so that not only does your child acquire the muscle memory of how to maintain their float, but to also work on their problem-solving skills to get into the float they need to maintain if ever the situation occurred. I always try to also obtain an independent swim with all of my students, but for the younger ones this all depends on how much time we dedicate to obtaining their independent float, and also their willingness/capability of performing a small swim at their age. For ages 16months old - 6 years old: The goal is to master an independent swimming & floating sequence. Dedicating time to the float as described above but equally building a strong swim that enables a child to reach a secure destination if ever needed (pool steps, pool edge, beach, dock, boat, ladder, etc.). The older they are, the stronger they are, so naturally some students progress faster. In these instances, we start incorporating focus on strokes, diving, etc.
