Dear Friends,

We are excited to share that 2026 marks a special milestone for the Itt-Ott Conference. Next summer, our community will gather for the 50th time at beautiful Lake Hope State Park in Ohio to celebrate this beloved tradition.

For five decades, the Itt-Ott Conference a Lake Hope has been a place where friendships are formed, generations come together, and Hungarian culture continues to thrive in a welcoming and inspiring natural setting.

In honor of this 50-year anniversary, we are preparing a very special week filled with meaningful and fun experiences, including:
• Cultural and community programs in Hungarian and English
• Folk music and folk dance
• Creative arts and crafts
• Nature exploration and outdoor activities
• Swimming, kayaking, and lake activities
• Campfire gatherings
• Engaging daily programs for children

This anniversary is not only a celebration of the past 50 years at this beautiful location, but also a celebration of the future of our community.

Please save the date! Registration and cabin reservation information will be coming soon.

In the coming weeks, we will be sharing more details about programs, special guests, and exciting highlights planned for this milestone year.

Örömmel osztjuk meg veletek, hogy 2026-ban különleges mérföldkőhöz érkezik az Itt-Ott Találkozó. Nyáron 50. alkalommal gyűlik össze közösségünk a Reménység Tavánál, az ohiói Lake Hope State Park gyönyörű környezetében.

Az elmúlt öt évtized során az Itt-Ott Találkozó a magyar közösség egyik legkedvesebb nyári hagyományává vált — egy hely, ahol barátságok születnek, generációk találkoznak és ahol a magyar kultúra összekapcsol bennünket.

A jubileumi év alkalmából különleges programokkal készülünk:

• népzene és néptánc
• kreatív kézműves foglalkozások
• természetjárás és közös felfedezések

Today we celebrate Anna Day (Július 26.)**—one of the most beloved name days in Hungary. Beyond honoring the many Annas in our lives, it has long marked the symbolic turning point of summer. Folk wisdom says: *"Anna carries the roots, Lőrinc brings the fruit"*—the harvest is nearing, and villages once came alive with thanksgiving, music, and celebration.

Juhász Gyula captured the beauty of the name Anna in one of Hungary's most cherished poems:

**Milyen volt...** *(What Was She Like...)*

*"Milyen volt szőkesége, nem tudom már,*
*De azt tudom, hogy szőkék a mezők,*
*Ha dús kalásszal jó a sárguló nyár,*
*S e szőkeségben újra érzem őt."*

*"What was the color of her golden hair? I no longer know.*
*But I know the fields turn golden too,*
*When summer ripens heavy heads of grain,*
*And in that golden glow, I feel her once again."*

Traditionally, **Anna-napi búcsú** (St. Anne's Fair) brought entire villages together. After church services honoring St. Anne—the patron saint of mothers and grandmothers—families gathered for fairs, folk music, dancing, homemade food, crafts, and reunions. For many communities, it became one of the biggest social events of the year.

**Fun fact:** Around **240,000–250,000 women in Hungary** bear the name **Anna**, making it one of the country's most popular female names generation after generation.

Some traditions aren't just remembered—they're lived. Anna Day is a beautiful reminder of faith, family, harvest, poetry, and the communities that shaped Hungarian life for centuries.
