Have to share one more of my projects from over the summer, that was a real blast to do! Pilgrim Center Camp, where my husband works, hosts "PilgrimCon" every year. This camp is designed for kids interested in sci fi, superheroes, and any other fandom you can think of! Naomi Files and Mitch Port, the camp directors, and I worked together to design a banner to use during their time at camp.

Well it's been a busy summer! I've had many orders, but I wanted to share one of my favorite projects with you since my last post. This Rainbow Stole was a special order, and was a real joy to design. The pattern was made by sewing 1.5" squares together (which made 1" squares in the final product after accounting for seams!) in a v-pattern. I worked on developing a more efficient method of connecting the squares with this stole. It is constructed in much the same way as my Prophesy stole (see Page's profile pic). However, I was able to simplify this one. Check out the pictures! Message me if you would like more information on designing a stole for your special occasion.

I am in the middle of preparing for my first "live" sale. I will be a vendor, selling stoles, at the Wisconsin Conference UCC Annual Meeting at the Green Lake Conference Center in early June. More specifics about that will be coming.

For now, I'm looking for help in choosing my "featured" stole. I've found lots of awesome stole fabrics in the last few months, and I'd like to have a featured stole available for immediate purchase at the event. I've narrowed the choices down, but could really use some help from everyone on Facebook!

Vote for your favorite fabric - and the one with the most votes by May 31, 2016, will be made into stoles and available for special "event only" pricing! Just "like" the photo of your favorite fabric. Can't wait to see which one you like best!

I promised to share my latest stole design after it was presented to the recipient. Well the pastor's ordination service was yesterday, so it is safe to share photos! I am much happier with this, than the original design I posted!

For me, the creative design process is a little haphazard! Check out the beginning stages of my newest design. I'm working on a stole that will be a gift for a pastor's ordination. Lots of red and white fabrics trying to invoke the concept of flames and the holy spirit. It is interesting to me how often the concept in my head changes as I develop a design. Sometimes I even get pretty far, before I decide that wasn't the direction I wanted!

So I started this one, and had it mostly laid out, when I just had to start over! The piecing technique I was using here may be brought back on a different design, but it just wasn't right this time. I am much happier with the new design! Check back soon to see the final design - after the stole is delivered to the recipient (don't want to ruin the surprise)!

Realized that good Facebook marketing would have included some examples of the work I do. Check out these custom items!

So, friends, it is official! I have finally started advertising my "stole-making adventure"! This FB page and an online store (click the "Shop Now" button above) must mean it's true.

For those who are not aware, I've been "secretly" making clergy stoles for a couple of years now, while my husband completed seminary and awaited his ordination. Once I started making them, I was really hooked, and felt like this was a service I could offer to the wider church community. I know it is not a common service, because when I first started looking into it, I found very few people offering it, and even less information about how to go about it!

For those few who were aware of this little project, thank you for the support and encouragement to move forward!

As I start this business, I'm looking forward to expanding my designs and developing my creative process. Please check out my online store at www.giftedbygrace.com, or click on the Shop Now button and let me know what you think. If you are interested in a custom stole (or other church parament), let's talk! And don't forget to "Like" Gifted by Grace on Facebook!
