Join us for an in-store creative writing workshop with Upstate author Rick Mulkey exploring memoir and more.
Samuel Johnson wrote, “Nobody can write the life of a man but those who have eat and drunk and lived in social in*******se with him.” Therefore, it is natural for us to write about ourselves or those we know. We will look at strategies and writing prompts meant to help you think about your subject and to present your characters through perspectives that will engage your reader. While the workshop is open to all, the strategies presented will be addressed to beginning level creative writers.
Rick Mulkey is the director of Creative Writing at Converse University and author of eight books. He has conducted writing workshops at universities, arts organizations, and public spaces in the U.S. and Europe.
