Imagine a tiny medieval village tucked into the Umbrian hills. Stone streets so pristine they almost donā€™t seem real. Grapes hanging from the vines. Sparrows circling overhead. Beauty everywhere.

I have been fortunate to visit some extraordinary places in this world, but Solomeo may be the most special place I have ever experienced.

This is the heart of Brunello Cucinelli, not simply where beautiful clothes are created, but where his philosophy of Humanistic Capitalism has been brought to life.

A theater. A library. Gardens. Artisans. Philosophy. Beauty. Work with purpose. A community that keeps giving back to the people who live and work there.

And then there is the Garden of Philosophersā€”Dante, Homer and Shakespeareā€”perhaps my favorite moment of all. A reminder that ideas written centuries ago can still influence how we work, how we treat one another and how we live today.

Eight years. Thatā€™s how long it took the Romans to build the Colosseum.
Fifty years. Thatā€™s how long it took to complete Romeā€™s White Giant, the magnificent Vittoriano.
Now hereā€™s my favorite fact: the bronze horse statue is so enormous that 24 people once sat down for a celebratory dinner inside its belly. Yes... twenty-four. šŸŽšŸ·
The Vittoriano was built to celebrate Italian unity and peace, and itā€™s every bit as impressive as it looks.
Madamskiā€™s Secret: Take the elevator all the way to the rooftop. The panoramic views over Rome are unforgettable... though you might get light headed. Consider this your fashionable warning. šŸ˜‰šŸ›ļø
And donā€™t rush off! The palace is also home to several fascinating museums, where history comes to life and where a few modern presidents might benefit from a refresher course. šŸ˜

šŸ›ļø Colosseum: Dressed in Roman-inspired style, I couldnā€™t help but imagine what it was like to be a woman watching the brutal Gladiator games nearly 2,000 years ago. I am standing at the top tier where Roman women (regardless of wealth) were expected to be, together with the slaves and as far away from the games as possible. Husbands and wives didnā€™t watch the games together. Seating reflected the different social rules of the time, and every spectator entered through gates assigned by status and gender.

Some traditions are better left in history. Arenā€™t you grateful for today? šŸ˜‰šŸ›ļø

Gliding through centuries of history in a golf cart, we covered more in three hours than we could have imaginedā€”from the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain to the majestic Vittoriano and Vatican City.
The warm lights, quiet piazzas, and timeless beauty made this one of our favorite experiences in Rome.
