When I decided to wrap my dad's freezer to look like a vintage Texaco gas pump for Father's Day, I was feeling confident.

That confidence was completely unsupported by my actual skill level. 😂

My dad can spot something that's 1/16" off from across the room. I am firmly a "close enough" DIYer. Thankfully, my sister knows this and stepped in before I permanently stuck vinyl where it didn't belong.

After lots of measuring, re-measuring, and reminding me that "eyeballing it" is not a real technique, we somehow pulled it off.

10/10 Father's Day gift.

My custom fabric was delivered today! I can make 12 potholders from it! I have a really awesome Texaco station in Colorado I’d like to do next, with a CO map, but had to start with OK first!

just placed an order for custom fabric to make some awesome potholders! the thought process behind this was when I looked at my own stash, they are ROUGH. time for some new ones, so why not make them!? i collect vintage Texaco maps, my father-in-law likes to find them for me as well (thanks Randy!), so what better way to include my passion with my creations!? this particular map is from 1962. you can see Route 66 on it. I-44 (Will Rogers Turnpike) opened to traffic in June 1957, so a few years before this map.

a little sneak peak of what I've been working on. I made the original poodle skirt apron YEARS ago (that I'm still obsessed with). and I am working on a mechanic shirt apron version, one night I couldn't sleep, and it occurred to me Zach had several old work shirts I could repurpose! so I have quite a bit of fabric to work with now😁
