You will find us at the Foothills Farmers Market in Shelby, tomorrow, November 18, from 8:00 - noon. We will have cozy socks made from the fleeces of our alpacas, as well as our beautiful yarns, handspuns and handknit items.

It will be a great time to come on out to the market for some of the best produce you'll find anywhere and to do a bit of locally produced Christmas shopping.

We will be attending the Foothills Farmers market in the morning, Nov.11, in Shelby. Right now a pair of alpaca socks are just the right thing. I know - I'm wearing mine right now! We will have our incredible alpaca socks as well as our beautiful alpaca yarns. 'Tis the season to be thinking of locally grown artisan goods for the upcoming cold weather.

We'll be heading for Foothills Farmers Market bright and early in the morning loaded up with locally produced alpaca socks, from fleeces of our suri alpacas, beautiful yarns, some handspun yarns and a few hand knitted items using our yarns.

We look forward to seeing you all there. Don't forget the wonderful bonus of stocking up on some of the sweetest locally produced veggies you can imagine.

Due to some unexpected events of this past week we will NOT be at the Foothills Farmers Market tomorrow, Oct. 28. We will return next Saturday. I will be stopping by for a few minutes to pick up some wonderful veggies and hope you will support our local farmers in their quest to provide produce, the quality of which we cannot get in local grocery stores.

We will be at the Foothills Farmers Market in Shelby tomorrow from 8:00 - noon with our soft, herd blend alpaca socks, beautiful alpaca yarns, handspun yarns and handknitted items.

There was a definite shift in the seasons this past week and it's only a couple months until Christmas. This is a good time to be thinking of unique, local products to add to your Christmas gift list.

Look for us in the morning, Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Foothills Farmers Market in Shelby with an assortment of beautiful yarns made from the fleeces of our Suri alpacas, as well as lightweight and heavyweight alpaca socks from our herd. We'll also have some handspun yarns and handknitted items using our yarns. Suri alpacas raised and sheared right here in Cleveland County. Can't get much more local than that!

We will be returning to the Foothills Farmers Market in Shelby tomorrow, Oct. 7 from 8:00 - noon. We will have our beautiful yarns from the fleeces of our herd of Suri alpacas, as well as some handspun yarns and hand knitted items from our yarns. New this year will be alpaca socks. We used the brown and fawn fleeces from last year's shearing, had them blended together to make a unique "herd blend" and after 9 months, going from raw fleece to socks, they are here and ready to sell. We will have lightweight crew and boot socks as well as heavy weight boot socks. Sizes range from small (fits women's shoe size to 8 1/2), medium (fits women's shoe sizes 8 1/2 up and men's shoe size to 10) and large (fits men's shoe sizes 11+). I regret I don't have pictures to post but I upgraded my apple program and haven't been able to get my photo app to post pictures! You'll just have to check us out in the morning.

It's true, I haven't posted for a while but that doesn't mean we're not here. Since November we have been eyeball deep in much needed farmhouse renovations. At this point, we're wondering if we're ever going to see the end, if we'll be painting for the rest of our lives and if we'll ever find all the stuff that has been piled hither and yon.

We're looking at our annual shearing that will take place this year on May 16 beginning around 8:00 a.m. It will take most of the day but by the end of the day we'll have 18 naked alpacas that will be shorn, pedicured, shot (wormers) and dentaled (I don't think that is a word but those that need a teeth trimming will have it).

I spoke with Frog Creek Socks this week. They are the small family run mill in Pennsylvania that will be making up alpaca socks from our brown and fawn fleeces of last year's shearing. Our socks are on the docket for June so sometime in July we will be the proud recipients of about 300 pairs of socks!

For the spinners among you (and feel free to share this with the spinners in your life) I have some Suri alpaca roving I'd like to sell to make room for the products of this year's shearing. I've pictured the roving below. The cream and gray roving have been blended with silk and the fawn has been blended with firestar. All from our herd here. $5/ounce + shipping unless you pick it up locally. You can PM me and I'll make up a PayPal invoice and send it on it's way. I have several pounds so there's plenty to go around.

Will we be coming back to the Farmers Markets? Yes we will, but it may not be for a while until we can get things put back together and get through shearing.

Tomorrow, December 10, will be the final market for both the markets I have been involved in this year. We will be participating in the Travelers Rest Farmers Market tomorrow from 1-5.

From our farm we will have our regular goods:

*Beautiful alpaca yarns - there's still time to knit or crochet a special handmade item. Quality yarns themselves make perfect gifts for the crafter in your life.

*Handspun yarns - handcrafted from a variety of fine, natural fibers as well as alpaca

*Hand knitted items - all our handknits are made right here on the farm, the "old timey" way of using two needles and lots of TLC. We also use only our alpaca yarns or handspuns. (We are "yarn snobs" and proud of it!)

*100% wool, hand felted dryer balls. I've included a picture of some that are ready to be packaged for tomorrow.

*New at the market for tomorrow will be some handcrafted "Christmas Gnomes" tree decorations. Each gnome has a hand knitted hat, knit from our yarns. The gnomes have heads needle felted from wool and covered with fawn suri alpaca, to give a more flesh color. Adorning the faces and heads are gorgeous locks of kid mohair. Each Christmas Gnome is unique and no two are alike.

One of the hand knitted items I will have is a "Sheep Heid" hat. The pattern was designed by Scottish knit designer, Kate Davies, and was the featured knitting project designed for the 2015 Shetland Wool Festival. The design was to include all the colors that are natural in the Shetland sheep wools. Instead of using any wool, I used all the natural yarn colors I have from our herd of suri alpacas, so there is a range of whites to grays to tans and browns.

The "Sheep Heid" hat, some Christmas Gnomes and ready to be packaged dryer balls are pictured below.

The Travelers Rest market will be held just after the parade and with the crisp, chilly temperatures it will be looking and feeling a lot like Christmas.
